West Bengal schools reopen date latest news: Schools in West Bengal, which have remained closed for the past 10 months due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, are set to reopen from February 12, 2021. West Bengal schools reopen date latest news: Schools in West Bengal, which have remained closed for the past 10 months due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, are set to reopen from February 12, 2021. According to a report by dnaindia.com, Partha Chatterjee, the education minister of the state, recently announced an important update regarding the reopening of the schools in West Bengal. The schools will be reopened for classes 9 to 12.
The schools in West Bengal were closed since March 16 last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Several states in India have already reopened their schools, following the proper COVID-19 protocol.
The West Bengal education minister further said that at present the schools are being properly sanitised to ensure the safety of the students and the staffs. Also, the school administration will be examined upon how effectively they are implementing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
The minister also added that since the schools in West Bengal have been closed since mid-March last year, the students and the staffs have little chances of inflicting the COVID-19 disease.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) and the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) have already announced the dates for the West Bengal board exams for classes 10 and 12. For class 10, the board exams will commence from June 1, 2021 and will continue till June 10, 2021. As for the board exams for class 12, it will begin on June 15, 2021 and will end on June 30, 2021.
Latest news regarding the reopening of schools in West Bengal state that SOP is being followed to sanitise the schools buildings at regular intervals. It has also been confirmed that the consent of parents will be compulsory in order to attend the classes in person. Physical attendance may not be made mandatory for all students.
The government is also taking into consideration, the suggestion of conducting of offline classes in phases, as put forward by some students and teachers' associations.
The Union health ministry has also issued guidelines of maintaining six feet distance between the students. The same should be followed by the staffs and the students.
