The schools in West Bengal, which have remained closed for the past 10 months are set to reopen from February 12, 2021. Recently, West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee, announced the date regarding the reopening of schools. The schools will be reopened for classes 9 to 12.
West Bengal school reopening date: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools were shut down all over the country in March last year. At present, the state governments of several states have made announcements regarding the reopening of schools. The announcements regarding the reopening of schools in West Bengal have also been made.

According to a report by the Bengali daily, Anandabazar Patrika, at present the school authorities in West Bengal are making preparations to ensure the safety of the students, faculty members and the non-teaching staffs in the school campuses. Thorough sanitization processes are taking place in the schools. Respective schools are also issuing various guidelines regarding the maintenance of the COVID-19 protocols in the school campuses. The time tables for the practical classes are also being issued by the respective school authorities.
Some of the schools have informed that for the time being they are going to keep the canteen closed while some have decided to go off without the tiffin period. One of the schools have also informed that if the students want, they can come to school wearing PPE kits.
Most of the schools have advised that it is preferable for the students to come to school individually or accompanied by guardians, instead of collectively in pool cars and buses.
Recently, in Kerala's Malappuram district around 192 students from class 10 of two schools have been tested covid positive. Some of the teaching and non-teaching staffs have also been tested positive with COVID-19. Due to this incident, parents in West Bengal are doubtful regarding sending their children to schools. However, most of the school authorities have assured the guardians that they are taking all the necessary precautions against COVID-19 and the campuses are being made thoroughly disinfected and safe for the students and staffs to attend.
