The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has postponed the WBPSC Civil Service Exam and other exams keeping in view the COVID-19 surge in the state.

The WBPSC has notified its decision to postpone the WBPSC exams on its official website at wbpsc.gov.in.

The notice issued by WBPSC states that due to the spike in the COVID-19 cases in the state, all the written exams which were scheduled to take place between May 7, 2021 and June 30, 2021, have been postponed. "In view of the recent surge in the number of COVID Positive Cases in the State, the Commission has decided in consultation with the State Government, that all Written Examinations scheduled to be taken by the Commission between 07/05/2021 and 30/06/2021 stands postponed until further orders, to prevent the possibility of any further spread of the pandemic."
The WBPSC has mentioned in the notification that the fresh dates for the postponed exams will be announced in due course on WBPSC website.
The aspirants may note that the West Bengal Civil Service (Exe.) etc. (Main) Examination, 2020 was scheduled to be conducted on May 17, 18, 19 and 21, 2021. Also, West Bengal Civil Service (Exe.) etc. (Preli.) Examination, 2021 was slated to take place on May 30 and West Bengal Audit and Accounts Service Recruitment (Preli.) Examination, 2020 was supposed to be held on June 13, 2021.
Earlier, the WBPSC had issued a notification postponing certain exams till May 15 because of the Assembly elections of the state. In that notification, the WBPSC stated that due to the pre-occupation of the administrative machinery with activities related to conduct of ensuing Assembly elections in the state, the WBPSC Exam 2021 has to be postponed till May 15.
It has to be noted that the WBPSC exams are not the first exams to be postponed due to the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country. The JEE Main 2021 April session exams have been postponed due to COVID-19 scenario in the country. Also, the NEET PG 2021 and UGC NET exams have been postponed because of the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.
For the revised dates, the WBPSC aspirants must keep an eye on the official WBPSC website at wbpsc.gov.in.
