WB Board Exam 2021 - Class 10, class 12 in West Bengal: It has been announced by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that Class 10, class 12 students will be passed out without having to take any examinations. There will be no selection test. This is due to the covid pandemic and the authorities are being super-careful to ensure things do not get worse. However, it will leave parents and children very much divided and uncertain about how this will come about and what will be the outcome when they go to the next stage of their academic calendar. This will especially apply to the students of class 12.
 
Nevertheless, Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday declared there will be no examination. What this will translate into is that students will be allowed to pass without appearing for board examinations in 2021 in state board schools.

Mamata Banerjee in a press meet said, “Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic situation, the state Education Department has decided that students currently studying in classes 10th and 12th will not have their examinations (2021).”

Students will not be held back at all.

As far as reopening of schools in West Bengal, the government said a decision will be taken only after Kali Puja on November 15. However, this does not mean schools will be opened. The decision will depend "on the COVID-19 situation at that time”.

West Bengal government is still unsure about resuming physical classes in state-run schools due to the COVID-19 situation in the state. This is despite the fact that the Union Education Ministry allowed phased reopening of educational institutions across the country.

As far as Covid situation in the state is concerned, at least 3,891 people tested positive for the COVID-19 in 24 hours, pushing the state’s tally to 4,13,112. Meanwhile, the active cases stood at 33,444.

State also witnessed the highest single-day recovery of 4,415 COVID-19 patients, taking the total number of cured people to 3,72,265. The death toll rose to 7,403 after 53 more people succumbed to the disease, the health department stated.
