UGC NET Postponed 2021: Revised dates for the exams to be announced later - check all details here

UGC NET Postponed 2021: As the COVID-19 situation in the country is going from bad to worse, several competitive exams and board exams are being cancelled and postponed. The UGC National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) which was scheduled to take place between May 2, 2021, and May 17, 2021, has also been postponed.

The Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank made the announcement regarding the postponement of UGC NET 2021 from his official twitter handle. He tweeted, "Announcement Keeping in mind the safety & well-being of candidates and exam functionaries during #covid19outbreak, I have advised @DG_NTA to postpone the UGC-NET Dec 2020 cycle (May 2021) exams."

The UGC NET is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges.

The UGC NET 2021 for December 2020 cycle (May 2021) was supposed to take place in the computer-based test from May 2, 2021, to May 17, 2021, throughout the country covering 81 subjects. However, due to the prevailing pandemic situation in the country and to ensure the safety of the UGC NET 2021 candidates, the UGC NET exam has been postponed.

Due to the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases across the country, several competitive exams had to be postponed. The JEE Main 2021 April session exams which were scheduled to start from April 27, 2021, have been postponed till further notice.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also cancelled class 10 board exams and postponed class 12 board exams.

Coming back to UGC NET, the revised dates for UGC NET December 2020 cycle (May 2021) will be notified to the candidates at least 15 days before the examination.

The UGC NET 2021 candidates must keep on checking the official websites of National Testing Agency (NTA) and UGC NET for regular updates at - nta.nic.in and ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
