“With the TN Public Exams 2021 for SSLC and HSE +1, +2 in mind, an 18-member panel has been set to deliberate on the same and present a report on the reduction of the syllabus. Tamil Nadu School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan would submit the report by November 30 to the Chief Minister. As per the information, the report may stress on reduction of syllabus by 40 – 50 per cent,” it said.

The decision in this regard is expected by December 10. After the submission of the report by the Expert Committee, the state government is expected to take a final decision about reduction in the school syllabus in 5 days. Going by that logic the students will get to know if the exam syllabus for SSLC i.e. Class 10 and HSE +1 and HSE +2 Exams is reduced on or before 5th December 2020. Along with confirming the timeline for the decision on reduction of school syllabus, the state government also dismissed the news of conducting half-yearly examinations online amid rising speculation and rumours about the same.

The state government had earlier decided to reopen the schools but withdrew its order following rise in Covid 19 cases and opposition from various stakeholders.

Many states, including Central Board of Secondary Education and Council of Indian School Certificate Examination, has resorted to syllabus cut to help students unburden themselves due to closure of physical classes.
