For instance, the Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education Board (MP Board) is now considering extending the dates for the class 10, class 12 board exams which were scheduled to commence from April 30 and May 1.

The dates of board examinations will be decided on April 12 in the review by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan as per a report by Zee News. Also, it has to be noted that the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to close all schools in the state up to class 8 till April 15, 2021.
There are also several thoughts regarding how to conduct the examination during this period of COVID-19. The MP board is preparing to conduct the exams for classes 9 and 11 with open book system. The exams for these classes are set to begin from April 13 and 14, 2021. In this context, the School Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar stated that the department has been instructed to conduct the examinations on time.
Several other states have also closed the schools up to class 8 because of the upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases in their respective states. Earlier Uttar Pradesh had ordered to close down schools till class 8 till March 31, now it has been extended to April 4, 2021. The Punjab government has also ordered that the schools and colleges in the state to remain shut till April 10, 2021. Chhattisgarh Minister Ravindra Choubey on March 21, 2021 informed that schools, colleges and Anganwadis will be closed in the state due to the massive rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
In Madhya Pradesh, earlier, the Higher Education Department decided to conduct the undergraduate first-second year and post-graduate second semester exams by using the open book exam method.
Almost a year ago when the pandemic first struck the country, the schools and other educational institutions were closed all over the country. The students had to shift to the digital mode of learning. As situation seemed to be under control, the schools were opened in several states. However, the recent rise in the number of coronavirus cases have compelled the state governments to close down schools once again and to adopt alternative methods of conducting exams.
