The Karnataka government has come up with a promotion evaluation system for the students from classes one to nine.
Karnataka School Exam News Today: The COVID-19 situation in the country is not looking good at all. The huge spike in the number of cases daily has compelled the state governments to undertake stringent measures in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 disease. The schools and the other educational institutions have been closed down in several states. The board exams have been either cancelled or postponed by the CBSE as well as the state boards.

Amidst this situation, the Karnataka government has come up with a promotion evaluation system for the students from classes one to nine as per a report by PTI. Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said, "Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation Programme will be the deciding factor for promotion of children of classes One to Ninth Standard."
Last week, the Karnataka education minister tweeted from his official twitter handle to inform that no decision regarding the cancellation of the Karnataka SSLC exam 2021 has been taken so far. In the tweet, he said, "“The state has not decided anything in respect to cancellation of SSLC exams. A suitable decision will be made in future considering all parameters." The clarification from the state education minister came at a time when there were speculations that the Karnataka board exams can be cancelled or postponed like the CBSE and several other state boards.
The Karnataka Education Minister also clarified that the Karnataka class 10 exam 2021 will be held as per the schedule released earlier, starting from June 21, 2021.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the class 10 board exams and postponed the class 12 board exams in view of the prevailing pandemic situation in the country. The CBSE stated that the results of the class 10 board exam candidates will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be decided by the board.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, authorities are exploring alternate options to evaluate the students. The promotion evaluation system adopted by the Karnataka government is such an example.
The Karnataka Education Minister highlighted the fact that the evaluation and the result announcement must be a tool, only for assessing the learning capabilities of the children. The key features of the scheme are that the children "must not be asked to physically attend the examinations."
He has also instructed the schools of the state to complete the result process by April 30, 2021.
