Due to the adverse COVID-19 situation in the national capital, the summer vacation for the 2021-22 academic session has been rescheduled till June 9, 2021.
Delhi Schools Summer Vacation 2021: Amidst the unprecedented rise in the number of COVID-19 cases all over the country, the state governments are struggling to curb the spread of the COVID-19 infections. Schools and other educational institutions have been closed down in various states. The board exams have been cancelled or postponed. Several states have announced early summer vacations for the schools.

Earlier the Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi had announced summer vacation in the national capital for the government, government aided and private unaided schools from April 20, 2021, to May 11, 2021. However, due to the adverse COVID-19 situation in the national capital, the summer vacation for the 2021-22 academic session has been rescheduled till June 9, 2021. The Delhi government further said in an order that all private schools had to suspend all online and semi-online teaching and learning activities during the summer vacation from April 20 to June 9.
The Directorate of Education in an official order stated, "It has been brought to the notice of this directorate that despite the summer vacation which has been advanced due to surge in COVID 10 cases, the regular online learning method continues to be adopted in one way or the other by some private unaided recognized schools. The online classes are being used as a substitute of physical classroom learning activities without any break."
The DoE has issued directions to all private schools to suspend all online and semi online teaching and learning activities during the aforesaid period of summer vacation. However, the DoE order further said, "the schools may conduct vacation related specific activities, remedial classes for specific set of students and other activities for creativity, happiness and overall social and emotional well being to enrich the overall growth of the students without calling them to school physically."
In order to ensure the safety of the students from the spread of the COVID-19 infection, various other states have also announced summer vacations for the schools in advance. Yesterday, the Haryana government had declared summer vacation for the schools in the state till May 31, 2021. Earlier, West Bengal had also declared the summer vacation in advance for the government schools in the state due to the adverse COVID-19 scenario in the state.
