Delhi Schools and Colleges Latest News: The recent surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has been a major concern for the respective state governments. Several state governments have issued orders to close down the schools and educational institutions of the state to ensure the safety of the students and contain the spread of the pandemic. The state governments are now issuing stringent restrictions in order to curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease.

As per a report by India Today, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who is also in charge of the education portfolio in the state in an interaction with students announced that all the educational institutions including schools, colleges and coaching centres in the national capital will remain closed. He further stated that the exams for classes 9 and 11 will remain postponed till April 20 and new dates for the exam will be soon announced.

On Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted from his twitter handle, "Due to the rise in the number of COVID cases, all schools (government and private) in Delhi are being closed for classes till further orders." the Delhi government has also imposed night curfew in the state till April 30, from 10 PM to 5 AM in order to contain the spread of the pandemic.

There has been a lot of hue and cry among the CBSE class 10 class 12 board exam candidates and their guardians regarding the board exams scheduled to commence from May 4, 2021. The hashtag "cancelboardexams2021" has been trending on Twitter. More than one lakh students of classes 10 and 12 have signed petitions urging the government to either cancel board exams scheduled to be held in May or conduct them in online mode. However, both the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) have said that adequate safety arrangements are being made for students and all COVID-19 guidelines will be followed during the exams.

The CBSE practical exams have started from March 1 and will continue till the month of June. When asked about the CBSE practical exams, Sisodia said, "We have asked the heads of schools to talk to the CBSE examiners and move the dates of the remaining CBSE practical exams forward. Schools have been asked to defer the remaining practical exams till April 20 for now."
