Colleges and universities reopen date: The Uttarakhand government has recently informed that the state universities and colleges are going to reopen from March 1, 2021.

As per an ANI report, the Uttarakhand government took the decision on February 24 on the resumption of physical classes for state colleges and universities.

With the new normal of online classes for almost one year, the college and universities in the state of Uttarakhand are looking forward to shift from the digital platform to the physical classrooms.

Anand Vardhan, the Principal Secretary of Uttarakhand for Higher Education Department has issued a circular to all district magistrate and vice chancellors of universities and colleges intimating the government's decision to reopen the colleges and universities of the state from March 1, 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic enforced a lockdown across the country from March last year. Schools, colleges and universities were also closed down in view of the coronavirus pandemic. Following the lockdown, the students shifted to digital mode of learning in the educational institutions.

Of late, several state governments have decided to reopen the schools in their respective states.

In Uttarakhand, schools for classes 10 to 12 were opened in November last year, after a gap of seven months.

Incidentally, this is the first time, the colleges and universities in the state are preparing to shift to the conventional offline method of education since March last year.

The state has also reopened schools for students of classes 6 to 9 from February 8, 2021.

As of February 24, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) informed that there were 491 active coronavirus cases in the state. The ministry further informed that 94,850 patients have also cured from the disease.
