“The board exam for class 10 and 12 will be held in June one after another. First, class 10 (Madhyamik) exams will be held and then class 12 (Ucchya Madhyamik) examinations will follow it,” said West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee on Wednesday.

"We have accepted the recommendations of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and the West Bengal Council of Higher Education on holding the exams on later dates in view of the pandemic situation," Chatterjee said. "If the situation changes, the board and council will take decisions accordingly," he added.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' had earlier ruled out conducting board examinations till February 2021 in view of the COVID-19 situation. Days after the education ministry made a big decision on JEE-Main 2021 exam schedule, it was expected that Pokhriyal might announce the dates of CBSE board exams during his interaction with teachers on Tuesday (December 22).  However, that turned out a hollow speculations and nothing of that sort happened.

Education Minister said, “Board exams will not be held till February. The decision on exam dates will be taken after holding a meeting with stakeholders. The exams will be conducted post February when the situation is favorable.”

He had also ruled our online exams, saying 'such methods for exams might not be right currently.’ He added that for online exams to be conducted at least a laptop, electricity and stable internet for each student is a must, which is not possible this year.
