According to a DNA report, Tony Joseph, a teacher from Kerala has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court against the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021. In his petition, he cited that the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be unfair for the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 students. The petition said, "Class 12 exam is an integral part of the life of a student and important for admission to higher educational institutions…."

Notably, till now, there has been no announcement on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021. It was expected that a decision on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 might be announced after Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank-chaired meeting with School Education Secretaries of all the states and union territories on May 17, 2021. However, no announcement on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 was made.

In this context, the students have also voiced their demands for the cancellation of the board exams on social media. Several Class 12 Board Exam 2021 candidates have taken to Twitter and are using the hashtag #saveboardstudents with the intent of getting the class 12 board exams cancelled. In the tweets, students are urging the authorities to cancel the Class 12 Board Exam 2021. Some have also suggested to evaluate them through a criteria similar to the one used for CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 students.

It is interesting to note that while Tony Joseph filed a PIL against the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021, last week advocate Mamta Sharma filed a petition on the apex court seeking the cancellation of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 as well was the Class 12 board exams conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The plea had suggested that the CBSE and CISCE should assess the Class 12 students through an ‘objective methodology’ within a specified timeframe.

On the other hand, Joseph claimed that the results on the basis of internal assessment will be “unfair” because in the 2021-22 academic year, “hardly any teacher had seen the students physically.”

The CBSE is yet to make an announcement on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021. Last month when the board postponed the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021, it stated that decision on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be taken after a thorough review of the COVID-19 situation in the country on June 1, 2021. At present, everyone is eagerly waiting for the decision by CBSE.
