CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 Latest Update: Will CBSE CONSIDER open book and take-home exam modes for class 12 board exams?

In the meantime, several students' organisations across the country have urged the Union Education Minister to consider open book and take-home exams for students.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 Latest Update: In a high-level government meeting chaired by the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and attended by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the possibilities of conducting the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 and All India Entrance exams were explored given the importance of these exams with respect to the careers of the students. Though there was a board consensus among the states about conducting the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021, some of the states were against conducting the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 in the offline mode.

As per a report by india.com, in a letter to the Union Education Minister, the Student Islamic Organisation of India (SOI) has requested the Union Education Minister to consider alternate modes of conducting Class 12 board exams, including open book and take-home examinations. The students' organisation suggested that if the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 must be conducted, the options of open-book and take-home exam must be considered. The SOI said, "Question papers and answer sheet can be made available to students at their homes, along with sufficient time to complete the exam and submit the answers back to the examination centre."
Earlier, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has also urged the Union minister to consider the safety and security of students before holding the exams in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. This student organisation has also suggested alternative modes of conducting the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 including the open-book mode and remote examination using registered posts. ABVP said, "“In view of the prevailing situation, novel modes of conducting the pending exams like open book examinations, remote examinations using registered posts and exams for major subjects can be explored for conducting exams with physical distancing in coming July- August. A number of state governments are already adopting similar creative approaches."
According to an ANI report on May 23, 2021, the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 is likely to be conducted and its date and format are to be announced by the Union Education Minister on May 30, 2021, as per sources.
On April 14, 2021, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cancelled the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 and postponed the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 keeping in view the COVID-19 situation in the country. The board notified that the decision on the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be notified to the students by June 1, 2021.
