Clarifying on the topic, a CBSE official, while speaking to India TV said that a final call on postponing and conducting the class 12 exams will be taken by the board after reviewing the coronavirus situation in June.
India TV quoted the official saying that if the exams could not be conducted in July, then it cannot be delayed further as the entire exam process takes more than a month including evaluation of copies and result declaration.
He added that if suppose the result be declared by the end of August then how will the students take admission in higher education institutions.
While speaking on the cancellation of the class 12 board examination, several experts have said that it cannot be dismissed considering the current situation and there needs to be an alternate assessment strategy to deal with the same.
On June 1, a crucial meeting will be held by the government and the education department members to take a final call on the new date sheet for the examination. The CBSE class 12 examination was earlier scheduled to be conducted in the month of March.
CBSE has recently announced the assessment criteria for class 10. According to the policy, 20 marks are allotted to internal assessment while 80 marks will be for the year-end board exams. The assessment of the 80 marks will be based on the marks scored by the candidate in different tests/exams conducted by the school in the course of the year and the marks should be in consonance with the past performance of the school.
The result for class 10 examination is scheduled to release on June 20. As per a report by india.com, the CBSE exam controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has informed about the same and has said that the schools will form eight-member result committees by May 5 and the provision for school-wise distribution of marks as well as finalisation of rationale document will happen by May 10.
