Talking about CBSE Class 10 students' promotion criteria, the Union Education Minister said that they will be promoted based on internal assessment.

Pokhriyal said CBSE class 10 students will be promoted on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by CBSE. If a student is not satisfied with the marks then, he/she can appear for the exams as soon as the COVID-19 situation is normal.

"Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams," tweeted the education minister.

Earlier, the CBSE had adopted similar pattern. Amid increasing cases of Covid 19 last year, the board had cancelled remaining exams in the middle of the schedule. Students who appeared for not more than two exams were marked on the average of the highest-scoring subject, and those who appeared for three or more than three were marked on the basis of the highest marks obtained in any three subjects. Their marks were also calculated based on the internal assessment and practicals.

CBSE class 10, Class 12 board exams 2021 were scheduled to start from May 4 to June 7.
