According to a report by The Indian Express, sources in the Education Ministry informed that the 12-member expert committee set up by the CBSE discussed this option at a meeting held on Saturday. The ministry official on the condition of anonymity said, "The broad consensus was to factor in marks scored in the Class 10 Boards, Class 11 (annual) exam, and Class 12 pre-Boards. There were differences about the exact weightage to be given to each component. That final decision will be taken by CBSE."
The CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 was called off on June 1, 2021, following a high-level government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi due to the COVID-19 scenario in the country. It was informed that the CBSE will formulate an objective criteria for the assessment of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 students and if a student is not satisfied with the marks allotted to him or her, he or she will be given the opportunity to sit for the exams when the situation will be conducive for conducting the exams.
Following this decision, CBSE was asked by the Supreme Court to devise an alternative assessment scheme in two weeks. The 12-member committee had its last meeting on Saturday, and CBSE will, in all likelihood, submit its plan to the Supreme Court today, as per the report by The Indian Express.
It is also expected that to keep in check the inflation of marks, the CBSE might instruct the schools to ensure that the marks awarded to the students are in accordance to the performance of the school in CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 in the last three years. The government sources also informed that to favour objective reflection of the marks, the expert committee members considered using Class 10 marks during the meeting on Saturday. The performance of Class 11 and Class 12 pre-boards will also be taken into account.
The CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 students must keep an eye on the CBSE official website at cbse.gov. in for any announcement on the evaluation criteria and exam dates.
