The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to cancel the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 and postponed the class 12 board exams. The CBSE has also informed that an 'objective criterion' will be taken into consideration while formulating the results of Class 10 Board Exam 2021. This 'objective criterion' will be decided by the board. No official announcement has been made so far by the board relating to the 'objective criterion'. For the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 students who are still puzzled about the allotment of marks based on 'objective criterion', here is an explainer.
The CBSE has sought information about student's year-long project work, assignments etc. It is possible that the board will prepare the results of Class 10 Board Exam 2021 on the basis of this, as per a report by dnaindia.com. As per board sources, information sought on 15 points format has been sent to the schools. The full information of the students has been included in this format and the respective schools have to send complete details of the students to CBSE. All information of the students, from appearing in school's weekly tests to term examination have been sought.
One must remember that a distinct pattern was followed last year when the exams for certain papers were stalled because of the pandemic. For the students who appeared for three or more papers were given marks based on the average of the highest marks obtained in any three subjects they have appeared for. While those students who appeared for only two exams, the average of the two highest-scoring exams were considered while marking them for the paper which could not be held. The result for these students, especially those who appeared for less than two papers, was calculated based on performance in internal or practical or project-based assessment.
The CBSE has also informed the class 10 board exam candidates that any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams.
The CBSE will soon make a clarification over the 'objective criterion' based on which the allotment of marks for Class 10 Board Exam 2021 candidates will be carried out. As for the Class 12 Board Exam 2021 candidates. the decision on the revised dates of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will be undertaken after a thorough review of the COVID-19 situation in the country on June 1, 2021.
The board exam candidates must keep an eye on the CBSE website at cbse.gov.in for regular updates.
