Several aspects regarding conducting of the board examinations were discussed in the meeting, this report said. Citing its sources in the education ministry, this report also said that there were no plans to cancel the Class 10th and 12th board exams.

The report further said that the meeting remained inconclusive on the issue of the future course of action and no final decision was taken, the officials discussed on the option of postponing the CBSE Board 2021 exams for classes 10th and 12th.
CBSE examinations are scheduled to be held in May as of now. The recent spike in the number of cases has forced the Ministry and the Board to revisit this decision. Around 1.68 lakh cases have been report in the last 24 hrs. India has been reporting over a lakh cases for several days now. As the fears of fresh lockdowns are surfacing, fresh COVID-related guidelines are also expected to be released.
The demand for postponing the CBSE board exams for classes 10th and 12th are only growing now. Though it has been there for quite some time, the recent trends in the cases have forced people to get more vocal about it. Many students and parents have also taken to Twitter demanding cancelation or postponement of board exams.
Notably, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has raised a demand for cancellation of CBSE board exam 2021 for class 10 and class 12.
Maharashtra Board which has recently announced postponement of the state board exams. It has also written to CBSE, ICSE, IB, Cambridge boards, requesting them to reconsider conducting their exams in May.
Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant has written a letter to Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhiryal Nishank requesting a single policy for class 10 and 12 Board exams across states and boards. Sawant in his letter has written that amid the rising cases of COVID-19, there needs to be a common decision taken by the Union Ministry of Education to ensure that no student was at a disadvantage.
Other state boards which have postponed their exams include MP Board and MSBHSHSE. The exams of these boards were scheduled between May and June months.
CBSE too has announced several changes in the board exams this year including conducting an improvement exam for students in the same as their academic year. The board has also slashed its syllabus by 30 per cent and increased the conceptual questions asked in the exams.
