The CBSE has issued a circular notifying the assessment and evaluation practices of the board from classes 9 to 12 from the academic year 2021-22.
CBSE Board Exams 2021: Keeping in view the adverse situation in the country, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to cancel the Class 10 Board Exam 2021 earlier this month. The CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 has also been postponed. The board has informed that the CBSE Class 10 Board Exam students will be evaluated on the basis of an 'objective criterion'. This system of 'objective criterion' has raised a lot of concerns among the students and the guardians. The board is yet to issue an official clarification on this marking scheme. The CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2021 candidates must keep an eye on the CBSE website at cbse.nic.in for any updates on 'objective criterion'.

In the meantime, the CBSE has issued a circular notifying the assessment and evaluation practices of the board from classes 9 to 12 from the academic year 2021-22. As per the CBSE circular, this competency-based question pattern is instrumental towards fulfilling the vision envisaged by the National Education Policy 2020. In the forthcoming sessions a greater number of Competency Based Questions or questions that assess application of concepts in real-life or unfamiliar situations will be part of the question paper.
As a part of this scheme, the question pattern for Classes 9 to 12 is going to change from the academic year 2021-22 for the internal exams as well as the board exams. Under this marking scheme, the students of Classes 9 and 10, will get 30 per cent competency-based questions as opposed to the 20 per cent weightage associated to the category at present. 20 per cent weightage will be associated to objective questions and remaining 50 per cent weightage will be given to the long and short answer type questions.
In case of Classes 11 and 12, 20 per cent weightage will be given to the competency-based questions, 20 per cent weightage will be associated with the objective questions and the remaining 60 per cent weightage will be given to the long and short answer type questions.
Speaking of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021, a decision regarding the revised dates for the exams will be taken after a thorough review of the COVID-19 situation in the country on June 1, 2021. The students have no reason to worry as they will be notified about the exams at least 15 days prior to the commencement of the exams.
