The migration certificate is required when a class 10 student is switching to another board after the board exams. In case of a CBSE class 12 student, the migration certificate will be required when he/she will be seeking admission for higher studies after class 12 board exams. The CBSE has developed the infrastructure to issue soft copies of the migration certificate on DigiLocker.
In a letter addressed to the principals and the heads of the institutions to all the CBSE affiliated schools, the CBSE stated, "It has been decided that hard copy of the Migration Certificate will be issued only to the students who would make a request for the same to the Board, otherwise soon the result will be declared, and the soft copy of the Migration Certificate will be made available in DigiLocker."
The issue of soft copies of the migration certificate will be convenient for the students who are seeking admission for higher studies as they will need to provide the migration certificate for web verification.
This change will be effective from 2021 and hence the CBSE class 10 class 12 board exam candidates will be able to avail this facility.
The CBSE students must also take note of the fact that the issuing of hard copies of migration certificate will be completely discontinued from 2024.
The CBSE class 10 class 12 board exams are scheduled to commence from May 4, 2021.
For regular updates, the CBSE class 10 class 12 board exam candidates must keep an eye on the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in.
