Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday urged the Central government to cancel the CBSE Board Exams 2021, saying that the health and lives of students are more important. Addressing a press conference in the National Capital, Delhi Chief Minister said that over 6 lakh children in Delhi are going to appear for the CBSE Board Exams 2021 and nearly 1 lakh teachers will be a part of this massive exercise, which could turn exam centres into major Covid-19 pandemic hotspots, which could, in turn, lead to large-scale Covid 19 infections.
Varsha Gaikwad: Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad while cancelling the Maharashtra class 10, 12 exams 2021, said that she would approach other education boards too seeking cancellation of exams. "Given the current #COVID-19 situation in Maharashtra, we've postponed state board exams for class 10th & 12th. The present circumstances are not conducive for holding exams. Your health is our priority. I would be also writing to the CBSE, ICSE, IB, Cambridge boards, requesting them to reconsider their exams dates," Varsha Gaikwad tweeted.
Sonu Sood: Bollywood actor, who emerged as a Massiah for the needy during Covid-19 induced lockdown, also felt that CBSE board exams 2021 should be cancelled in the interest of students. "I request everyone to support students who are forced to appear for offline board exams in these tough times. With the number of cases rising to 145k a day I feel there should be an internal assessment method to promote them rather than risking so many lives. #cancelboardexam2021," the actor said on Monday.
CBSE Controller of Examinations: Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, CBSE said, “We will not leave any stone unturned for the students. For students, focus on your studies, do not listen to any rumor and false pretense. We are actually very transparent from the exam point of view, and it comes from the curriculum hosted in the website. We have also uploaded the sample question paper. The design of the question paper will be same to the sample question paper only. Additionally, we have also introduced competency-based questions. If any candidate (special need children) coming for examination then they will be provided with a single room where two children can sit and they will also be given assistive devices and they can carry the same to the examination hall as well."
Official privy to the matter: "The only point of discussion are the dates as the number of cases are rising. There are still around three weeks left and developments, including increase in the number of Covid infections and containment zones are being discussed as part of assessing the situation. The primary discussion point is safety of the students and teachers and that will not be compromised,” TOI quoted an official as saying.
