Bihar News Today: Schools closed till April 11, BSEB to announce 10th class results TODAY - check all details here

Due to the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the state, all schools, colleges and other educational institutions in Bihar have been closed down till April 11, 2021. The scheduled exams will take place following the COVID-19 guidelines as per a report by ANI.

In fact, Bihar is not the first state to close down schools and other educational institutions to contain the recent surge in the number of COVID-19 cases. Schools and educational institutions in various other states of the country like Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and other states have also been closed down.

Bihar has also imposed restrictions on public gatherings due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases. All government and public gatherings at public places have been banned till the end of April except for marriages and other family functions. Around 50 to 250 people have been allowed for funerals and weddings with strict following of the COVID-19 guidelines. The crisis management group of the state has taken this decision in consultation with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at a high-level meeting.

The schools and other educational institutions were closed down in the country when the pandemic first struck last year in the month of March. As situation normalized, several states reopened the schools and physical classes resumed in the schools. However, the recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases all over the country has compelled several state governments to close down educational institutions once again to contain the pandemic. The respective state governments have also imposed several other restrictions to curb the spread of the disease.

Earlier, the Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey in a statement stated that the number of COVID-19 cases in the state has increased from 25,000 to 70,000 tests per day. As on Saturday, April 3, 2021, the Union Health Ministry and Family Welfare stated that Bihar currently has 2,942 COVID-19 cases.
