AP Schools and Colleges Latest News: In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Andhra Pradesh government have reopened schools after the Makar Sankranti vacations. Adimoolapu Suresh, the Andhra Pradesh Education Minister, stated on Monday that schools will continue to operate in an offline or physical manner as reported by IANS.
This has alarmed many parents, who are now requesting that the holidays be extended because they believe it is unsafe for their children to attend offline sessions.
According to the agency, the Minister of Education informed reporters following a meeting of the education department that the decision to keep classes offline was decided in the best interests of students.
He said "Already 150 days of school have been completed in this academic year, and we intend to continue the remaining session in offline mode. Due to the Covid pandemic, we followed an `all pass` approach in the last years but we understand the problems that the students will face in future if this continues".
Although schools resumed lessons, the attendance was low, as per IANS mentioned.
Stating the fact that online lessons have certain drawbacks, the minister stated that parents of students need not be concerned about their children's safety because teachers are completely vaccinated and 90% of students aged 15 and up have had their first dosage.
According to the agency, the minister stated that there is no link between the distribution of Covid and the conduct of lessons in schools, but that if the situation warranted it, the government would take appropriate steps.
However, other southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, and Karnataka, have placed offline lessons on hold as a result of the rise of Covid cases.
