However, the restrictions exempted shipments entering the country under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), according to a Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) notification dated June 11.

"Import under a valid INDIA-UAE CEPA TRQ shall be permitted without restricted import authorization," it said.

Here is the description of the five types of products, according to the official notification:

Last year, the DGFT had amended the import policy on unstudded jewellery and certain other gold articles to "restricted" from "free" category.

Imports of commodities shifted to the restricted category require a proper licence from concerned authorities.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) - under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry - is responsible for formulating and implementing the country’s foreign trade policy.

The DGFT is tasked with regulating and promoting foreign trade through various policies, schemes, and initiatives.

The DGFT plays a crucial role in shaping the country's trade relations and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.
