5 types of studded gold jewellery placed under import restrictions
Last year, the DGFT had amended the import policy on unstudded jewellery and certain other gold articles to "restricted" from "free" category.
The Centre on Tuesday imposed certain restrictions on the import of five types of studded gold jewellery products with immediate effect.
However, the restrictions exempted shipments entering the country under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), according to a Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) notification dated June 11.
"Import under a valid INDIA-UAE CEPA TRQ shall be permitted without restricted import authorization," it said.
