PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025; highlighted India's transformation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, January 4, 2025, inaugurated the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025, emphasising his government's commitment to empowering rural India.
He inaugurated the 'Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025' at the Bharat Mandapam here which is a six-day event for rural India's entrepreneurial spirit and cultural heritage.
On this occasion, PM Modi detailed key initiatives undertaken since 2014 to uplift villages and enhance the quality of life for millions.
Drawing from personal experience, the Prime Minister said, “I have spent a significant part of my life in villages and have witnessed their challenges and aspirations firsthand.”

Access to Clean Water
PM Modi underscored the success of the Jal Jeevan Mission, which now ensures clean drinking water reaches every household in rural areas.
Digital Transformation in Healthcare
The Prime Minister highlighted the adoption of digital technology in rural healthcare, with telemedicine services offering unprecedented access to medical consultations.
COVID-19 Vaccination Outreach
He lauded efforts to extend COVID-19 vaccination to the remotest corners, ensuring even the last mile of India’s population is protected.
Support for Farmers
PM Modi addressed global concerns over rising fertilizer prices, particularly DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate). He assured farmers that increased subsidies would prevent any additional financial burden. The government has also disbursed ₹3 lakh crore under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and consistently raised Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for crops.
Economic Empowerment
Highlighting rural entrepreneurship, the Prime Minister noted the benefits of the Mudra Yojana and Startup India, which have significantly contributed to strengthening village economies.
Rural Consumption and Expenses
Citing a recent survey, PM Modi revealed that rural consumption has tripled compared to 2011. Additionally, food expenses in rural areas have reduced by 50%, narrowing the gap in spending capacity between urban and rural populations.
Decline in Poverty
Sharing insights from an SBI report, PM Modi stated that rural poverty has declined from 26% to just 5%. He further noted that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, with SC, ST, and OBC communities—primarily residing in villages—benefiting significantly from various government schemes.
PM Modi also reiterated his government’s mission to ensure no one is left behind, highlighting targeted policies for marginalised communities and efforts to bridge economic disparities between urban and rural areas. He concluded with a vision of a stronger rural India, driven by technology, inclusivity, and sustained growth.
