On Friday, crude oil prices rose by Rs 52 to Rs 6,945 a barrel in futures trading, driven by increased trader activity and strong spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, July delivery crude oil increased by Rs 52, or 0.75 per cent, to Rs 6,945 a barrel, with a trading volume of 6,967 lots.

Market analysts attribute the rise in crude oil futures prices to the expansion of trader deals. Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 0.73% to $83.22 per barrel, while Brent crude was trading 0.59 per cent higher at $85.90 per barrel.

Current Petrol and Diesel Prices in Metro Cities

Price Reduction in March

On March 15, the Government of India significantly reduced petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 per liter. This reduction was implemented in consideration of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With the elections concluded, it will be interesting to see how long the current low prices of petrol and diesel will last.

OMCs Release Prices

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in India, such as Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation, regularly update petrol and diesel prices on their websites. However, there have been no changes in these prices since May 22, 2022.
