OMCs reduce aviation fuel prices; know which city has lowest rates

In a bid to relieve the aviation sector, state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) have announced a reduction in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices, effecting from January 1, 2024. This major comes amid the New Year celebrations.
After a period of escalating prices, OMCs have reduced ATF rates by Rs 1,401.37 per kilolitre. While, in the previous year, it was hiked by Rs 1,318.12 per kiloliter in December, and Rs 2,941.5 per kilolitre increase in November.
Here is a summary of new aviation fuel prices for domestic airlines (in Rs/KL):
In Delhi now ATF price is Rs 90,455.47; in Kolkata, Rs 93,059.79, in Mumbai, Rs 84,511.93; in Chennai, Rs 93,670.72.
Industry experts believe this price drop could translate into potential benefits for air travellers.
With this effect, airlines may be able to offer more competitive fares, making air travel more accessible to a wider segment of the population.
Moreover, for the international running fights the rates across such states are as follows (in $/KL):
- Delhi: $812.75/kl
- Kolkata: $851.55/kl
- Mumbai: $811.98/kl
- Chennai: $807.69/kl
