Retail inflation, factory output data to be released at 4 pm instead of 5:30 pm
The Ministry of Statistics has decided to advance the timings of the release of data on Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Index of Industrial Production (IIP) by 90 minutes each to 4 pm. Currently, each data set is released at 5:30 pm on the 12th day of each month under certain conditions. Data on CPI is released at 5:30 on the next working day if the 12th falls on a holiday and on IIP at the same time the previous day if 12th falls on a holiday.
Currently, official readings on retail inflation and industrial production—gauged by the CPI and IIP indices respectively—are released normally at 5:30 pm on the 12th day of the month.
