State-run oil marketing companies reduced the prices of commercial LPG with effect from September 1. The prices of 19-kilogram cylinders of LPG—meant for commercial use—were brought down by Rs 157.5 per unit in New Delhi.

After the latest revision, commercial LPG will be available in the national capital at a retail price of Rs 1,522.5 per cylinder, instead of the earlier Rs 1,680 per cylinder. In Mumbai, the new price of Rs 1,482 will be applicable from Friday, instead of the earlier Rs 1,640.5 per cylinder. 

In Kolkata and Chennai, the retail prices have been brought down from Rs 1,802.5 to Rs 1,636, and from Rs 1,852.5 to Rs 1,695, respectively. 

State-run Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) notified the new rates (applicable from September 1, 2023) on its website, iocl.com:

Here's a look at the current retail prices of 14.2-kilogram LPG refills in the four metros:  

  • New Delhi: Rs 903 per cylinder 
  • Mumbai: Rs 902.5 per cylinder 
  • Kolkata: Rs 929 per cylinder
  • Chennai: Rs 918.5 per cylinder

This week, the government slashed the prices of domestic LPG (sold in 14.2-kilogram cylinders) by about 18 per cent in a big relief for consumers. The Centre reduced the rates by Rs 200 per 14.2kg cylinder. The cut meant an overall relief of Rs 400 per cylinder for beneficiaries of the central Ujjwala subsidy scheme.
