LPG Gas Cylinder Price Cut: In a big relief for all households in the country, the Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved a cut of Rs 200 in the price of LPG gas cylinders available for all LPG consumers. The announcement was made by Union Minister Anurag Thakur during a Cabinet briefing.

 "PM Modi has decided Rs 200 reduction in the price of domestic LPG cylinders, for all users...this is a gift from PM Narendra Modi, to the women of the country, during the occasion of Raksha Bandhan," Union Minister Anurag Thakur said.

After the announcement, the LPG Gas cylinder will cost approximately Rs 900 for all consumers, and around Rs 700 for beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) or Ujjwala scheme.

After the approval of additional subsidy of Rs 200 under the Ujjwala Scheme, the total subsidy will be Rs 400 per cylinder for PMUY beneficiaries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that the price cut in LPG gas cylinders will facilitate women and make their lives easier.  

Approximately 30 crore households will benefit from the LPG gas cylinder price cut, and the move will put an additional burder of Rs 7680 crore on the exchequer.

The Union Minister also informed that the Government will provide 75 lakh new LPG connections for free under Ujjwala scheme.

The Consumer Affairs Ministry and RBI Governor are also scheduled to meet to discuss ways to cool inflation ahead of the festive season.

 

 

LPG Gas Cylinder price

As on August 1st, the cost of LPG cylinder in major cities was as follows — 

Delhi - Rs 1103 
Mumbai - Rs 1102.50 
Kolkata - Rs 1129 
chennai - Rs 1118.50 

After March 2023, no major change has been seen in the LPG gas cylinder prices. However, the price of commerical gas cylinder has been revised several times.
