LPG gas cylinder price cut for Ujjwala beneficiaries: Govt increases subsidy, cylinder prices to go down by Rs 100: Check reduced rates

LPG Gas Cylinder Price Cut for PMUY Beneficiaries: Union minister Anurag Thakur informed on Wednesday that the Union Government has raised the subsidy amount for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per LPG cylinder. He informed this during a briefing on Cabinet decisions. Earlier, with a subsidy of Rs 200, the price of subsidised LPG cyclinder was Rs 703. Now, with the subsidy being further increased by another Rs 100, the price for the subsidised LPG cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme would come down to Rs 603.
Informing this, Anurag Thakur said, "The government has raised subsidy amount for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries from Rs 200 to Rs 300 per LPG cylinder."
"During the past nine years, a lot of development work has been done for the welfare of women and the poor. Last month, on the eve of Rakshabandhan, when the prices of domestic LPG were reduced by Rs 200, it reached about Rs 900. However, for the Ujjwala beneficiaries, it was Rs 700," he added.

The Union Cabinet had in August cut LPG domestic gas cylinder prices by Rs 200 for all consumers.

Earlier, the Union Government had last month approved the release of Rs 1,650 crore to oil marketing companies towards providing 75 lakh LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. With the provision for an additional 75 lakh Ujjwala connections, the total number of beneficiaries under the PMUY scheme has now increased to 10.35 crores.
The PMUY gas cylinder subsidy scheme was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May 2016 to provide LPG connections to women of below poverty line (BPL) families.
