Since June 2019, non-subsidised LPG prices have been raised by a net Rs 195-218 in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata, amid changing global oil market dynamics, government policies, and economic challenges. Here’s a summary of revisions in the LPG rates in the four metros over the past five years:

For instance, five years ago, the prices of non-subsidised LPG cylinders meant for domestic use (14.2 kilogram refills) were Rs 712.5 in New Delhi, Rs 738.5 in Kolkata, Rs 684.5 in Mumbai, and Rs 728 in Chennai. Among these major cities, the highest hike was recorded in Mumbai, at 32 per cent, followed by New Delhi, at 27 per cent.
