Rupee rises 11 paise to 82.01 against US dollar in early trade
The dollar index, which compares the value of the dollar to other six currencies also, was last trading 0.10 per cent lower at 102.10. The index compares the dollar to the yen, the pound, the Canadian dollar, the Swedish krona, the Swiss franc, and the euro.
The rupee gained 11 paise to 82.01 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, 12 April as investors are paying close attention to India's CPI data, which will be announced later in the day.
The local currency started out at the interbank foreign exchange at 82.08 against the dollar before rising to 82.01 and recording an increase of 11 paise from its previous closing.
However, the dollar demand from importers impacted on investors mood, causing the rupee to weaken 13 paise to settle at 82.12 (provisional) on Tuesday, April 11.

Meanwhile, Brent crude futures, the benchmark for all crude oil, increased by 0.01 per cent to $85.62 a barrel.
On the domestic equity market side, BSE Sensex was trading 70.18 points or 0.12 per cent higher at 60,228.07 points, while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 0.21 per cent or 36.55 points at 17,760.90 points at 9.43 AM IST today.
