Factory output growth improves to 5.6% in February
The rise in industrial production was mainly driven by the manufacturing sector, showed the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO).
India's industrial output, as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), stood at 5.6 per cent on an annual basis in February 2023, according to official data released on Wednesday. That marked an improvement of 40 basis points sequentially, from growth of 5.2 per cent in factor output in January.

Manufacturing output expanded 5.3 per cent in February 2023, according to an official statement.
Here's what growth in some of the other sectors looked like:
- Mining: 4.6 per cent
- Power generation: 8.2 per cent
In February 2022, India had registered annual growth of 1.2 per cent in its factory output.
