Net direct tax collections grow 15% to Rs 9.92 lakh crore in a year; advance tax collections up 19%
As of September 15, the government's advance tax collections stood at Rs 4.23 lakh crore and net direct tax collections at Rs 9.92 lakh crore, up 19 per cent and 15 per cent over a year ago, according to official data released on Wednesday.
The government's advance tax collections of income tax stood at Rs 4.23 lakh crore, as of September 15, marking growth of more than 19 per cent over the year-ago period, according to official data released on Wednesday. Its net collections of direct taxes amounted to Rs 9.92 lakh crore, up more than 15 per cent during the period.
Gross direct tax collections increased about 21 per cent to Rs 11.94 lakh crore, the data showed.
Meanwhile, the taxman made refunds to the tune of Rs 2.2 lakh crore, translating to an increase of 65.7 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
