Indigo places order for record 500 A320 aircraft with Airbus
The aviation company in its BSE filing said that the French aircraft company would deliver its aircraft between 2030 and 2035.
Indigo-Airbus deal: India's aviation giant, IndiGo, has further expanded its wing as it has placed the largest-ever order in the history of single aircraft with Airbus for 500 A320 aircraft. The aviation company in its BSE filing said that the French aircraft company would deliver its aircraft between 2030 and 2035.
"This 500 aircraft order is not only IndiGo’s largest order, but also the largest-ever single aircraft purchase by any airline with Airbus. The engine selection for this order will be done in due course and so will be the exact mix of A320 and A321 aircraft."

The company said that it operates over 300 aircraft, and with previous orders, it has total 480 aircraft, which are yet to be delivered between today and the end of this decade.
"With 500 Airbus aircraft set to strengthen its strong fleet, IndiGo’s order-book has almost 1,000 aircraft yet to be delivered into the next decade. This IndiGo order-book comprises a mix of A320NEO, A321NEO and A321XLR aircraft," the company said in its BSE filing today.
The evaluation of the offers was shared and discussed with IndiGo’s Board, and consequently endorsed.
"This new order will bring the strategic relationship between IndiGo and Airbus to an unprecedented depth and breadth. With this new order, since its inception in 2006, IndiGo has ordered a massive total of 1,330 aircraft with Airbus," the company further added.
Elaborating further abouth the deal, IndiGo said that the fuel-efficient A320NEO family aircraft will allow IndiGo to maintain its strong focus on lowering operating costs and delivering fuel efficiency with high standards of reliability.
"The young and fuelefficient fleet will help IndiGo realise its sustainability ambitions, building on the already realised CO2 reduction of 21 per cent between FY16 and FY23."
The airline is expecting 100 million customers on board this year. As one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, Indigo believes its latest order with Airbus will allow the company to continue this growth for many years to come.

It further added, "With IndiGo’s current fleet and the almost 1,000 aircraft yet to be delivered, IndiGo is not only well positioned to expand and densify its unparalleled network but equally importantly, IndiGo will execute its role in fully supporting fulfilling this mission."
