Newly launched air carrier Akasa Air has decided to allow passengers to travel with their pets. According to the airline, the booking will be available from October 15 and the first flight in which air travellers will be allowed to carry their pets will fly on November 1.

As per the policy, the airline will only allow pets up to 7kg for now. Pets can be allowed to travel both in the cabin, as check-in, and in the cargo compartment. 

"Domesticated dogs and cats can travel from November and the bookings in this regard will start from October 15," Co-Founder, Chief Marketing & Experience Officer Belson Coutinho said.

It is important to note that only Air India allows pets in cabins. 

Meanwhile, Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube expressed satisfaction over the airline's performance in the first 60 days since starting operations.

The airline started operations on August 7 and has six planes in its fleet. It plans to have a total of 18 aircraft by the end of this fiscal.

"We are very happy, satisfied with... Our performance," Dube said.

He also said the airline is "on track" as per plans and that the performance has been satisfying. The airline is currently flying 30 flights daily.

Currently, it has a fleet of six planes and the number is expected to touch 18 by March next year. Akasa Air, which currently has 30 daily flights, will start services from Delhi on Friday.
