Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday (September 11) emphasised that farmers' welfare is a primary focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
In a media interaction, Chouhan described the commitment to serving farmers as akin to “worshipping God.”
Addressing ongoing concerns from farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan highlighted a recent drop in soybean prices below the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
In response, he revealed that the central government had previously permitted states such as Maharashtra and Karnataka to purchase soybeans at MSP.
The minister also announced that the proposal from the state government to buy soybeans at MSP has received approval from the central authorities. This move aims to support local farmers facing financial strain due to the declining prices of their produce.
The Minister assured the farmers of MP will receive the MSP for their soybeans and emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring that farmers get the full value for their labour.
The announcement has been met with relief among the farming community in Madhya Pradesh, who had been expressing concern over the insufficient prices for soybeans.
