Last week, PM Narendra Modi reviewed the Rs 9,000 crore project of Power Grid, and ordered to strengthen power transmission in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, as per our sources. To expertise this, PM Modi has personally intervened on this project, Bhutani said.

The State Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the State Government of Sikkim, and the Ministry of Power have also discussed this. To strengthen power transmission in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, the government has given orders to start the work from September 2021, after all requirements and clearances. These decisions were taken in the meeting, he asserted.

Bhutani said that the deadline for this project is March 2022 in Sikkim, and March 2024 is the deadline for the completion of this project in Arunachal Pradesh.

Over 146 small such projects are pending in Arunachal Pradesh. And some 19-24 similar such projects are pending in Sikkim, he added.

Prime Minister has evaluated these pending projects and ordered to complete these projects as soon as possible, Bhutani mentioned.

He said that the big news in the near term is that Arunachal Pradesh will give all the clearances of these projects by September 2021 and the compensation assessment to acquire the land will be handed over to PowerGrid.

And in the coming years, more money will be reflected in the PowerGrid cash book. This is big news for PowerGrid because this Rs 9,000-crore project is being reviewed by the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs in March 2021.
