You can still avail Prime under Dhan Dhana Dhan, says Reliance Jio
After being told by the telecom regulator to discontinue its Summer Surprise offer and draw back its Jio Prime extension the company has not adhered to TRAI's advice completely. Jio rolled out Dhan Dhana Dhan offer under which customers that have still not enrolled for its Prime membership can continue to do so.
For the second time over newcomer Reliance Jio extended its Prime membership subscription on Tuesday after tweaking its tariff plans.
The telecom operator announced the launch of ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ which would offer customers free data for up to three months.
“Jio further announced new ALL UNLIMITED plans with special benefits, exclusively for its Jio Prime members and aimed at encouraging Jio subscribers to live the Digital Life without restrictions – Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan!” the company said in a release.
Jio offered two new plans under Rs 309 and Rs 509.

“The plans start with the most affordable Rs 309 ALL UNLIMITED PLAN, which provides Unlimited SMS, calling and data (1GB per day at 4G speed) for 3 months on first recharge. The company also announced the Rs 509 ALL UNLIMITED PLAN for daily high data users offering Unlimited SMS, calling and data (2GB per day at 4G speed) for 3 months on first recharge,” Jio said.
After officially declaring that the company has withdrawn its Summer Surprise offer on Tuesday Jio said that it would not comply with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)’s advice to draw back its extension of Jio Prime membership.
“Considering the special benefits that are available to Jio Prime members, customers who were unable to subscribe to Jio Prime for any reason, can continue to do so by paying Rs 408 or Rs 608 (Jio Prime + recharge price) to avail these benefits,” Jio said.
On Tuesday April 6, TRAI advised Jio to pull back its Summer Surprise offer along with stopping its extension of the Prime membership subscription that was scheduled to end on March 31.
To this the company replied, “Jio accepts this decision. Jio is in the process of fully complying with the regulator’s advice, and will be withdrawing the 3 months complimentary benefits of JIO SUMMER SURPRISE as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days.”

The company said that the offer will be available for Prime customers’ first recharge only and will not be available for those who have already subscribed to the Jio Summer Surprise offer.
As of April 9 midnight the company was rumoured to have discontinued the plan completely.
Jio has also provided new tariff plans on its company website. For prepaid customers Jio will now offer Rs 149, Rs 309 and Rs 509 only while the postpaid plans have not yet been revealed.
“These plans will be available starting today. Existing Jio customers who have not done their first recharge so far, need to do so by 15 April 2017 to avoid degradation and/or discontinuation of services,” Jio said.
