Worried about Jet Airways' JPMiles benefits post shutdown? Then know this

Jet Airways operations have been temporarily shuttered, which means no one can fly with this airline until further notice. Jet, which is entangled in massive debt crisis, has also been witnessing a loss of market share due to the grounding of its aircraft. Sadly, interim funding options have been rejected by its consortium of lenders led by SBI, which holds majority stake in the airline on account of the debt resolution process movement. While customers are busy cancelling and applying for refunds on their Jet Airways ticket, there is another set of users who are linked with the airline and these are the ones with JPMiles. Considering Jet has closed its operations, the real question is whether they can use their rewards and points available to them. Let’s find out!

In a big relief for them, Jet Airways has assured these customers that they can still use their JPMiles anywhere they are. Currently, Jet Privilege has some 9.8 million members. 

However, Jet Airways said, “We, at Jet Privilege Pvt. Ltd., as part of Etihad Aviation Group, want to reassure you that your JPMiles are secure and their value remains intact. We know that you have earned and nurtured your JPMiles over the years and we consider it our foremost duty to safeguard the trust you and our partners have placed in us.”

The airline further said, “Keeping you at the centre of our business, we have introduced our air reward offering, ‘Select Flights’, which allows you to redeem your JPMiles across more airlines, any destination in India and globally. What’s more, you can redeem your JPMiles for any seat available on the flight, starting with the same JPMiles requirement as before which was applicable on Jet Airways and its partner airlines.”

That said, you can continue to use your JPMiles on hotel stays, fuel & 2500+ merchandise options at the JetPrivilege Reward Store.

Jet said, “Over the last few years, your passion for collecting JPMiles has inspired us to constantly expand our partnership network. And today with over 150 programme partners, JetPrivilege offers you diverse JPMiles earning and redeeming opportunities. We remain focused on creating memorable and rewarding experiences for you.”

So, as long as they complete one eligible activity in a period of 18 months, these JPMiles will not lapse.

It needs to be noted that, if customers are unable to use their upgrade vouchers till their expiry date, Jet Airways will extend the validity by 6 months. However, unfortunately, they will not be able to use the upgrade vouchers or Any Promo codes issued against the co-brand card on Jet’s partner airlines. However, the airline will extend the same if they expire during suspension period.

Also you will not be able to upgrade your JPMiles vouchers.

Jet Airways currently awaits the bid finalisation process by SBI and the consortium of Indian Lenders. The airline will inform all guests about the temporary suspension of flight operations via text message or email to the contact details listed in their bookings.
