World’s largest mobile factory to be launched in India; all details here

Mobile phone history will be rewritten and this will take place in India! South Korea-based Samsung Electronics will be unveiling the world’s largest mobile plant in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The launch will take place tomorrow in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in who will be making his first visit in India. This company is among the oldest smartphone makers with presence going way back to 1969. Samsung achieves most of its sales from countries like India and China. It was Samsung, which actually managed to attack and offer services and handsets on lines similar to those of Apple’s iPhone brand. It has given massive competition to iPhone maker with its low-budget, heavy battery and internal storage in screen touch smartphones.
According to IANS report, the new 35-acre Samsung Electronics facility is at Sector 81 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. In front are open fields with grazing cattle, to the left are under-construction residential societies and to the right is its existing facility – this where Samsung has set up what is the world’s largest mobile factory.

Currently, Samsung makes a massive 67 million smartphones in India. Reportedly, with the new plant being functional, it is expected to manufacture nearly 120 million mobile phones.
According to Tarun Pathak, Associate Director at Counterpoint Research, the new facility gives Samsung an advantage by reducing the time to market.
“This will help Samsung bring some local features to the devices powered by R&D here. Apart from this, the company can also bring in export opportunity for Samsung to SAARC and other regions,” Pathak told IANS.
In India, Samsung has two manufacturing unit one in Noida and other in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
In Noida alone, Samsung has an employment strength of a massive 70,000 and its network has expanded to as much as 1.5 lakh retail outlets.
Samsung has been operating its smartphone in Noida since 1995. Within two years of time, Samsung commenced production in Noida and their first television rolled out. This was later followed by refrigerator production in 2003.
In a period of 17 years, Samsung already became a market leader in mobile phones in 2012 with its first ever Galaxy S3 device being launched through Noida.
In third quarter of 2013, Samsung achieved record high earning due to smartphone sales especially sales of lower-priced handsets in markets such as India and China. Not only this, the company's operating profit has risen to a behemoth $10.1 trillion in 2013, which was a figure that was boosted by memory chip sales to customers such as Apple, Inc.
Currently, Samsung has a market share of 25.1% in India.
