In a tragic turn of events, VG Siddhartha, the owner of the iconic retail chain Cafe Coffee Day early today. The body of Siddhartha was found 36 hours of the launch of massive search operations that stretched from land, river to even the sea. Siddhartha was 60 years old. In fact, not the authorities, it was a group of fishermen who found teh body in teh river. Siddhartha was extremely successful in creating a Starbucks type of chain in India at a time when the concept was virtually non-existent in India. However, he ran into big debt over his various other businesses. He racked up a debt of nearly Rs 7000 cr. To pay back he had to sell his other businesses but to no avail, leading to his suicide. In an emotional re-telling of the sequence of events, VG Siddhartha drives recounted his tragic tale. This is how the entire tragic sequence of events happened:

1. Siddhartha's driver, who last saw him alive, said that his boss told him to stop by the side soon as they drove on to the bridge on teh Netravathi bridge.

2. Driver said Siddhartha asked him to wait in the car at the end of the bridge as he wanted to walk up and had to make calls. There were clouds and it was getting dark.

3. When conditions got worse and Siddhartha did not reach teh end of the bridge, the  concerned driver decided to act on his own to ensure Siddhartha did not get wet. "When the rain started, I took a U-turn and drove back to the spot where I left Sir and searched around for him." 

4. Tragically, it was too late. The driver voiced his fears and concern by saying, "As it was dark, windy and raining, I could not find him anywhere on the bridge or in the river".

5. On Monday, Siddhartha left Bengaluru afternoon for Sakleshpur near Hassan where he has a house and one of his coffee estates. As it was on way to Mangaluru, he had told the drcver to drive towards Mangaluru after a short break at Sakleshpur to freshen-up.
