WATCH: Volkswagen Ameo launched at Rs 5.14 Lakh

Volkswagon India has just launched its first compact sedan, the Ameo, at a starting price of Rs 5.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

The ‘Made in India’ and ‘Made for India’ Ameo will be available in three variants -- Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.

The Ameo gets a 1.2-litre three cylinder MPI engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. 

The Ameo gets cruise control, rain sensing wipers, anti-pinch power windows, static cornering lights. The Ameo will get dual front airbags as standard. 

“Today is a very special day for Volkswagen in India, as we introduce our first ever made-for-India carline, Volkswagen Ameo,” Michael Mayer, Director of Volkswagon Ameo said at the launch.

Going up against the Maruti Swift Dzire, the Ameo will be available across all Volkswagon showrooms starting this July, 2016.
