Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced an investment of 50 million Brazilian real (equivalent to over Rs 72 crore) to enhance innovation and technology across South America. This significant commitment is paired with a newly-formed 10-year partnership with Brazil’s leading higher education and research institute, Insper.

According to an official statement, TCS aims to collaborate with Insper on a variety of high-tech projects, harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Spatial Computing. Proposed research includes using satellite-based geo-sensing for agricultural yield optimization, AI-driven solutions for reducing downtime on offshore oil rigs, and accelerating drug development.

The TCS-Insper collaboration will foster academic research, create technology prototypes, and organize seminars, hackathons, and tech discussions. TCS clients in the South American region will have exclusive access to Insper’s research and innovation insights.

“TCS will leverage Insper’s academic expertise to address real-time challenges for companies across various sectors,” said Bruno Rocha, TCS’ Country Head for Brazil. Rodrigo Amantea, Head of Insper’s Paulo Cunha Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub, emphasized that the collaboration will allow Insper to advance its work in engineering and computing, placing it at the forefront of industry solutions.

In a separate statement, TCS announced a visit by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to its facility in Spain. The company, which entered Spain in 2003, currently has over 1,000 associates and operates two global delivery centers in Madrid and Ourense.
