Tata Motors to launch Hexa tomorrow; here is what to expect

Tata Motors is all set to launch its latest offering the Tata Hexa tomorrow. This the latest car from the Tata Motors stable after the launch of Tata Tiago in April last year. Tata Hexa's launch will be marking Tata Motors' entry into the premium crossover segment. While the launch is tomorrow, the company has already started taking pre-bookings of Hexa with a token amount of Rs 11,000.
The Hexa will be available in two engine variants the VARICOR400 and VARICOR320, which are both 2.2 litre BS IV diesel engines. The VARICOR400 engine churns out a power of 154bhp and 400Nm torque, while the VARICOR320 dishes out 148bhp and 320Nm torque. While the VARICOR400 engine will be available with a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission, the VARICOR320 engine will come with a 5-speed manual transmission. Hexa also comes with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
The SUV will be available in six variants with 4x2 and 4x4 drive configuration, ie XE-MT, XM-MT, XT-MT, XMA-AT, XTA-AT will all be 4X2 drives and the XT-AT will be 4X4.
The Hexa also features a 5-inch screen inside the car with a JBL 10-speaker audio system from Harman.
In terms of safety systems it comes equipped with ABS with Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), cruise control, traction control, ESP with Roll-Over Mitigation.
Tata Hexa is expected to priced at Rs 12 lakh for it lower end variants and around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom) for its higher end variants.
It is expected to go head to head with crossovers such as Mahindra XUV500 and Toyota Innova Crysta. While the Mahindra XUV500 is priced between Rs 16.68 lakh to Rs 17.57 lakh, the Toyota Innova Crysta is priced between Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 21.19 lakh.
If the pricing is somewhere in the same range Tata Hexa will have difficulty in breaking in the crossover segment as these two SUVs are the top players.
