Tata Motors will soon launch the first car of the five launches it has planned to to introduce during the year. As Tata Motors is all set to bring out the premium crossover Tata Hexa on January 18, it has already started taking pre-bookings and has launched a high decible ad campaign.

This is much needed as it will look to take on SUVs such as Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV500 which are in this segment. The Hexa will replace Tata Motors' 7-seater Aria.

While the Aria was priced between Rs 9.95 lakh for the base variant to Rs 14.74 lakh for the top-end variation, the Hexa is expected to be priced between Rs 12 lakh for the base variants to Rs 18 lakh for the top-end variant.

At this price it Hexa is priced well below its competitors. While the Innova Crysta is priced between Rs 13.96 lakh for the base variant, the top-end variant goes up to Rs 20.93 lakh. Even the Mahindra XUV500 is priced even much higher at Rs 15.36 lakh (ex-showroom Navi Mumbai) for its base variant to Rs 17.22 lakh for the high-end trim.

The Hexa comes with a 2.2-litre Varicor 400 Diesel engine which churns out power of 156PS with 400Nm torque. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic unit. Tata Motors will offer a 4x4 drive, however the lower variants will only be rear-wheel drive.

Hexa will also come in six different variations which include – XE, XM, XT, XMA, XTA and XT 4x4. While the XT, XTA and XT 4x4 will have 6-seater configuration, the others will offer a 7-seater configuration.
Some of the safety features includes six airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control, electronic brake-force distribution.

Tata Hexa is placed very well in terms of its specifications and the price range it is expected to be in to take on competitors.
