Tata Group launches advanced vehicle scrapping facility in Pune

Tata group companies, Tata Motors and Tata International have inaugurated a vehicle scrapping facility, named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect,’ in Pune. The facility has the capacity to dismantle up to 21,000 passenger and commercial vehicles annually, catering to all brands.

Speaking at the launch, Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors said "Tata Motors is at the forefront of shaping the future of mobility and focused on partnering customers to success by delivering values through its products, services, and digital solutions."

"Re.Wi.Re represents our commitment to creating a circular economy, leveraging advanced recycling processes that not only extract maximum value from end-of-life vehicles but also contribute to our nation's sustainability goals. Tata International has been our partner in several international markets, and we are delighted to strengthen this longstanding relationship by adding a new chapter with Re.Wi.Re." Wagh added.

The initiative is aligned with India’s broader efforts to regulate vehicle recycling and efficiently manage ageing vehicles. Rajeev Batra, CEO of TIVA, emphasized that the facility’s recycling capacity is designed to address the increasing volume of end-of-life vehicles in the country.

The Pune centre joins Tata Motors’ expanding Re.Wi.Re network, which includes similar facilities in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR. All centres operate using a digital, paperless system, reflecting the company's focus on innovation and sustainability in recycling practices.
